Small-town character, big-city access

Georgetown is the county seat of Scott County, just north of Lexington on I-75. It’s one of the fastest-growing communities in Kentucky, yet it still feels like a small town — with a historic Main Street, local shops and restaurants, and community events throughout the year.

Jobs and commuting

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky — Toyota’s largest vehicle plant in the world — is Georgetown’s largest employer, supported by a network of suppliers and manufacturers. Many residents also commute to Lexington, which is typically a 15–25 minute drive depending on where you live and work. Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are about an hour north on I-75.

Downtown and things to do

Downtown Georgetown centers on the historic Scott County Courthouse and Main Street, with locally owned restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. Royal Spring Park marks the historic spring where the town was founded, and Georgetown College adds cultural and athletic events. The Kentucky Horse Park is just down I-75.

Parks and outdoor life

Residents enjoy city and county parks, walking trails, sports complexes and easy access to the rolling farmland that surrounds town. Elkhorn Creek is popular for kayaking and fishing, and the Bluegrass countryside is perfect for scenic drives and cycling.

Where to live in Georgetown

Buyers can choose from historic homes near downtown, established neighborhoods close to schools and parks, newer subdivisions on the edges of town and rural properties toward Stamping Ground, Sadieville, Delaplain and Great Crossing. If you want land, northern and western Scott County offer acreage and mini-farms within a short drive of town.

Schools

Scott County Schools serves the county with elementary, middle and high schools, including Scott County High School and Great Crossing High School. School assignments depend on your address, so we recommend confirming boundaries directly with the district for any home you’re considering.

The Georgetown real estate market

Georgetown’s growth and location keep demand steady, especially for move-in-ready homes near major employers and I-75. Getting pre-approved and working with a local agent helps you move quickly when the right home appears.
